John 1:1

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

With nearly three decades of writing and editing experience, I've had the privilege of working for some of the top publishers in the country, including Health Communications, Inc. (best known for "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books), Cox Communications, and the Chicago Tribune.

"Writing shapes our thoughts, but editing refines our message, turning raw ideas into words that resonate with truth and purpose."

Writing has always been my passion, and from the time I could hold a pen, I've been journaling and exploring the power of words. They have the remarkable ability to edify, express our deepest thoughts, create connections, and carry our stories forward—both the history that shaped us and the dreams that lead us.

Nearly three years ago, I committed to God: I would use the gift He gave me for His glory. Like the great composer Bach, who signed his work, Soli Deo Gloria (For God's Glory Alone), I recognize that every blessing, every talent, and every opportunity I have comes from the Lord. That includes my writing and editing skills.

My work is an expression of my faith and it's my way of embodying what Oswald Chambers describes as a Mere Christian. While I may not be preaching from a pulpit or serving in a far-off mission field, I believe that doing God's work where I am, with what I have , is both an honor and a source of boundless joy.

I've had the pleasure of working with clients who have gone on to achieve Amazon Best Seller rankings, win awards, and even gain speaking opportunities—all through the power of the written word. My mission is to help you step into your God-given calling, harness the unmatched power of the Holy Spirit, and make a lasting impact for the Kingdom. If you're ready to share your story, glorify God, and touch lives through your words, I would be honored to be a part of your journey.

Imagine the kingdom impact your work will have in the hands of readers!

Experience Editing for Your manuscript

Helping christian authors share their god story

Providing All Levels of Editing

1.

Developmental editing

Developmental editing is all about helping you craft your experience and expertise into a book. It involves a deep and comprehensive review of the manuscript's structure, content, and overall message. It goes beyond grammar and punctuation, focusing on the heart of the story or message. For Christian authors, this process ensures that the narrative aligns with their values and spiritual themes while maintaining clarity, flow, and impact for the intended audience.

This editing looks at:

  • Clarifying the message

  • Strengthening the story structure

  • Deepening the spiritual impact

  • Guiding the author's voice

  • Encouraging audience connection

In developmental editing, the relationship between editor and author is collaborative and focused on refining the work to ensure that it speaks powerfully to readers while maintaining a spiritual depth.

2.

line editing/substantive editing

Line editing focuses on refining the language, style, and flow of the manuscript. This type of editing ensures the writing is clear, concise, and compelling while preserving the author’s unique voice.

For Christian authors, line editing helps to fine-tune how spiritual insights and personal stories are communicated, enhancing the impact without altering the core message. It involves improving sentence structure, fixing awkward phrasing, and ensuring that the transitions between ideas are smooth and logical, allowing the writing to resonate with clarity and purpose.

Beyond technical adjustments, line editing also focuses on maintaining the spiritual tone and authenticity of the message. The editor pays attention to how the narrative conveys themes of faith, transformation, and growth, making sure the writing feels natural and accessible to the intended audience.

This process involves more than just fixing errors—it’s about elevating the writing so that it inspires and connects with readers on a deeper level, ensuring that both the heart of the message and the spiritual richness come through in every sentence.

3.

proofreading

Proofreading focuses on correcting surface-level errors such as grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting issues. For Christian writers, this step ensures that the manuscript is polished and professional, free from distractions that could detract from the power of the message. Whether the author is sharing a testimony, delivering a spiritual teaching, or offering life lessons, proofreading guarantees that the content is error-free and ready for publication.

In addition to fixing technical errors, proofreading also checks for consistency in style and tone. This is particularly important for Christian authors who are balancing personal storytelling with faith-based insights. The proofreader ensures that key terminology, scripture references, and the use of capitalizations (e.g., pronouns referring to God) are consistent throughout the manuscript. This attention to detail helps maintain the integrity of the message and aligns with the expectations of Christian readers, who often expect accuracy in both spiritual content and presentation.

Finally, proofreading serves as a quality control step that confirms the manuscript is publication-ready. The proofreader looks for any lingering issues that may have been missed in previous edits, such as formatting inconsistencies or misplaced words. For Christian authors, speakers, and everyday storytellers, this step is crucial in presenting their message in the most professional and polished way possible. It ensures that nothing distracts from the spiritual truths or personal stories being shared, allowing the work to shine and make a lasting impact on readers.
