The experienced Editing Your Manuscript Deserves

1.

Developmental Editing

Helps a writer plan and shape a piece of writing. Usually a book or long-form content. This form of editing is needed when you are looking to develop overreaching elements, such as story lines and themes.

2.

Substanative/Line editing

This type of editing is focused on the overall cohesiveness
and organization of the material covered. It includes detailed edits such as grammar, word usage, punctuation, and suggestions to strengthen and tighten the copy. The editor helps arrange content in a way that best conveys the story or
message to the audience.

3.

proofreading

This is the final stage before it gets into the reader’s
hands. Proofing entails errors caused by formatting, incorrect page numbers, mismatched table of contents, fonts, styles, and headings, for example. We also look for extra spacing and errors from line editing corrections.

Mark Twain said:

"A successful book is not made of what is in it, but what is left out of it."

Writing well is both a skill (can be learned) and a talent
(innate gift). What makes great writing is the ability to prune our words for the greatest impact on our readers.

My best lesson on writing well was when I worked under an
editor who left some of my early work more red than black and white. Since then, I have worked with some amazing authors helping them polish their prose and create full manuscripts from years of writings and teachings.

Helping clients take their experience and expertise and
craft that valuable information into a book is my métier. Working with Christian authors, speakers, and coaches, I provide all levels of editing from developmental to proofreading.

Christian authors co-write with God to share their testimonies, honoring Him and impacting lives!

I am a certified word nerd and Christ-follower!

My degree is in journalism and I have 29 years of writing and editing experience for names you might know, such as; the Chicago Tribune & The Chicken Soup for the Soul publisher.

As a Christian author, your God-inspired story is God's story. As such, I rely on the Holy Spirit to use my God-given skills and gifts to guide each project. I give it the reverence and respect it deserves to honor God in all I do. It's one of my core values.

Driven by Core Values

I treat every editing project I undertake as the most important piece of work I will ever contribute to. I approach each manuscript with the utmost care, driven by the following core values:

Core value 01

Honoring God

01

Honor God: Honoring God is at the heart of my work. I view editing not just as a job but as a way to serve His Kingdom. This means that I strive for excellence in every manuscript, knowing that each project could be used to touch hearts and transform lives. When I work with authors, I approach them with humility and a servant’s heart, offering encouragement, wisdom, and support as they share their message with the world.

core value 02

Respect The Creative Process

02

Respect the Creative Process: Every author’s journey is unique, and I honor that by respecting the effort and creativity that goes into writing a manuscript. I listen carefully to the author’s vision and voice, ensuring that my edits enhance, not overshadow, their work. I collaborate with authors as a partner, recognizing that it’s their story and voice that needs to shine through. This respect extends to deadlines, feedback, and revisions, as I aim to make the process smooth and uplifting.

core value 03

Holy Spirit Led

03

Be Holy Spirit Led: My editing process is guided by prayer and a sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s leading. I often pray over a manuscript, asking for discernment and clarity on how to guide the author’s message. This spiritual element allows me to see beyond the technical aspects of writing and focus on the deeper, spiritual impact of the work. Working with authors, I encourage them to seek the Spirit’s guidance too, trusting that their writing has a greater purpose. Together, we pursue excellence with a divine focus.
